CASE N°42 – Lung adenocarcinoma (cytoblock & immunohistochemistry)

Clinical History:

Age: 80

Sex: Female

Two years ago supraclavicular lymph nodes excision. Histology: metastatic adenocarcinoma immunophenotypically compatible with pulmonary origin. Now pleural effusion suspicious for recurrent disease.

Cytological Report:

Presence of numerous Malignant epithelial glandular cells arranged in aggregates and isolated, mixed with activated mesothelial cells, some lymphocytes, granulocytes and erythrocytes.
Immunohistochemical profile: TTF1 +, calretinina-.
Positive for malignancy. Cytological findings referable to localization of pulmonary adenocarcinoma.
